Fleet take Louis on loan

Ebbsfleet United have agreed a two-month loan deal for Sutton United defender Louis John.

The 22-year-old centre back has just returned from a loan spell at Hampton & Richmond Borough and could now play against the Beavers on Tuesday night.

Standing 6ft 3in, John is a solid, athletic player who scored two goals on his England C debut in the summer v Slovakia to cap off a memorable season where he played 10 games to help boost Sutton’s late run to the league title.

He began his career at Sutton, coming through their youth and reserve side, before making a brief move into the Football League with Crawley Town. Released by the Sussex club in the summer of 2014, he returned to Sutton and although initially restricted by injury, he is very well regarded at Gander Green Lane, having played his part in a play-off campaign (2013/14) and a league-title campaign (2015/16).

He has played two games in the National League for Sutton this season, as well as the month on loan at Hampton where he turned out for six games. He has also previously played for Hemel Hempstead Town, Bognor Regis Town and Met Police on loan.

Louis will go into the squad for Saturday’s game v Maidenhead, with vice captain Dave Winfield suspended for four games (so missing the Maidenhead, Hampton, Harrow Borough and Oxford City games). He is also eligible to play in the Buildbase FA Trophy.
