Two more leave for pastures new

The Fleet have continued their negotiations with players today and can announce that Shane Huke and Michael Corcoran have departed the club.

Both players joined in the summer of 2013 and played in the 2014 promotion final before being re-signed in the summer.

Defender Huke slotted into the centre of defence, earning rave reviews, until a foot injury at Dartford ruled him out for a good portion of the season, though he went on to make 22 appearances for a Fleet career total of 41, scoring four goals. He told FleetOnline, “I’d like to thank the fans and the club in particular for their support, especially through the long period I was laid off with my metatarsal injury and I wish them all the best in the future.”

Midfielder Corcoran bided his time in the Fleet squad for a regular opportunity and went on to appear in 34 games last season (playing 43 in all) and he said, “I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Fleet and I leave wishing the club nothing but good times.”

Both players have found fewer opportunities for regular first-team action this term and are now free to speak to other clubs. Fleet vice chairman Peter Varney told FleetOnline, “All the players who are leaving the club can be proud of their achievements and efforts in a Fleet shirt. Shane and Michael were excellent professionals and I trust their future careers will bring them every success.”
