Tribute to the past – Sponsors’ Lounge mural unveiled

The club’s new Sponsors’ Lounge has been chosen as the home of the new Fleet Mural, a tribute to some of the major events in the history of the club since the merger of Northfleet United and Gravesend United in 1946.

Director Stuart Butler-Gallie said, “We wanted to create an impact feature that acknowledged the long and great history of the club. The recently created and decorated Sponsors’ Lounge seemed an ideal place to show off the ‘Fleet Mural’.

Stuart added “I met with the club historian, Paul Harrison, and club secretary, Peter Danzey, in July to ask them to find images and pictures of the key moments in the club’s history from 1946 to the present day.

Capitalising on the design talents of sponsor Dan Bream of BreamTeam, a striking modern mural combining the Fleet colours now covers one entire wall in the Lounge covering the 1940s, through to the 70s and 80s, and on to the present day.”

Paul Harrison said, “The end result is striking and will certainly be a great talking point and will challenge all fans on their knowledge of the key events in the club’s history”.
