Osei’s on his way to Ebbsfleet

Steve Brown continues to build his new Ebbsfleet United squad having today added full back Osei Sankofa to the mix. The 28-year-old, who most recently played for Hayes & Yeading United, has represented England at every level from Under-16 to Under-20 and played Premiership football for Charlton Athletic, his professional debut coming at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

Having broken into the Charlton first-team in 2002, Osei gained further League experience in loan spells at Bristol City and Brentford, while clocking up a further 14 Premiership appearances for the Addicks. He was released in the summer of 2008 and snapped up by Southend United, playing more than 40 times for the Roots Hall side in two seasons.

A spell at Farnborough followed, where he played twice against the Fleet including in the play-off final, before further moves to Boreham Wood, Eastleigh and Hayes & Yeading.

The defender, while primarily operating as a right back, is something of a utility player who can slot in anywhere across the back four. He told EUFC.co.uk, “I am very pleased to be joining Ebbsfleet United at this exciting time. Looking at the players signed already I am sure the style of football that we will play will be both exciting and attractive.

“When the plans regarding the future of the club were explained to me I could not wait to sign, it was an offer I simply could not refuse,” he added. “I am really looking forward to getting involved in pre-season training sessions and working with the other members of the squad and the management team.”
