Minute’s applause for Tony Pilcher

There will be a minute’s applause for long-term Fleet supporter and a very valued member of our maintenance team, Tony Pilcher, who died on Tuesday night.

Tony, 79, was a former RAF serviceman who was well-known at Stonebridge Road both as a supporter and as a member of staff in his role helping out the club’s maintenance operation.

There will also be tribute paid to Tony in Saturday’s matchday programme.

Fleet vice chairman Peter Varney said, “Tony was a real gentleman, a hard worker, a dignified man and was a model employee, always at work at 7am on the dot. As well as being a key member of staff he was a massive supporter of Ebbsfleet United. Rest in peace, Tony.”

Tony’s maintenance colleague Chris Pilkinton said, “It seems unbelievable that Tony was playing in the walking football team for the match-winning EUFC staff team only in mid-October. It was a privilege and a pleasure to have known him and worked with him and I sincerely wish him all of the best on his onward journey…”
