Miles to add on the kilometres at Gosport

Fleet goalkeeper Jonathan Miles is set to join Gosport Borough today on a month’s loan.

The 23-year-old faces the long trip to Truro City tonight as he goes straight into the Boro squad. Gosport have lost two goalkeepers in two weeks, with Mark Childs injured on his home debut versus Dartford and his replacement Dan Thomas sent off last weekend, so Miles’ contribution is sorely needed on the south coast.

Having previously spent time at Concord Rangers in November, the reasoning behind Miles’ loan departure is the same, with the Fleet staff keen to get him more game time. The club wishes Jon all the best during his loan spell.

Now, as then, goalkeeping coach Michael Jordan will fulfil backup duties to Nathan Ashmore and there is an instant recall clause for any emergencies.

Jordan will likely take his place on the bench as Fleet return to action against Hemel Hempstead Town at Vauxhall Road tonight in a league programme that also includes Maidenhead United in action against Eastbourne Borough. Kick-off is 7.45pm.
