Margate make move for Fleet’s Phipp

Ebbsfleet United have agreed a four-figure fee with Margate for midfielder Tom Phipp. The 21-year-old moves to Hartsdown Park after more than three years at the Fleet, in which time he helped the club win promotion from Conference South in his debut season.

After playing youth football with Arsenal, he joined the Fleet’s PASE academy setup and broke into the first team immediately upon signing Conference forms, netting 12 goals in almost 50 games during 2010-11. He went on to clock up more than 140 appearances for the club, scoring 22 times.

Having signed a new contract in the summer, Tom has since found regular first-team opportunities hard to come by and spent a successful spell at Maidstone United on loan towards the end of 2013.

He leaves Stonebridge Road with the best wishes of all at the club and we wish him every success in his future career.
