The Fleet have signed Welling United full back Ben Jefford on loan until February 28 as cover for Joe Howe who dislocated his shoulder at Braintree. A tough-tackling left back, Ben joined the Wings in the summer after leaving Port Vale.
The 20-year-old began his career on Reading’s books and has also played for Basingstoke Town, Southport and Boreham Wood on loan. He can also operate as a holding midfielder.
He has appeared 23 times for Welling in the Conference this season and has been allowed out on loan by the Wings to get some game time. He was an unused substitute in Welling’s Trophy tie at the PHB Stadium so will be eligible to play against North Ferriby if we get there, but is not eligible for Tuesday v Braintree as he was not registered before the original game.
