The Fleet feature in a February double of awards as the Vanarama National League handed out double gongs to manager and player.
Denis Kutrieb won manager of the month for the second time this season and Dominic Poleon followed Chris Solly earlier in the season as player of the month. The League issued the following press release about the deserved award for the Fleet pair:
“You can never read too much into how things look in February, except perhaps in the Vanarama National League South this year.
“Ebbsfleet United really put their foot down last month as the sides who could peg them back started to really fade. It’s never done and dusted with eight weeks to play of course, but you already get the feeling it’ll take something remarkable to stop their celebrations.
“They ended last month with an incredible 14-point lead on Dartford and the goals are flowing. So it’s probably not too surprising then that the panel decided it’s a February Fleet double!
“German manager Dennis Kutrieb oversaw an emphatic few weeks that saw them stretch their legs at the top. They started the month in a title race just six points clear of second – but ended it possibly as the only horse left in the championship race.
“Dropping just seven points from 39 since the turn of the year, they have only lost once in 2023. In February they beat promotion rivals Havant & Waterlooville, Bath City, Hampton & RB, St Albans and Chelmsford – and grabbed decent draws at Chippenham and Farnborough.
“Given the incredible season he’s having in front of goal, it seems strange Dom Poleon hasn’t yet won the Player Of The Month this season. But he gave the decision-makers little choice in February to make it an incredible double award win for the table toppers.
“He played every minute last month, scoring seven times in seven games including a smooth hat-trick against Hampton. He also entered the Kent club’s Top 20 all-time goalscorers list as he moved on to 26 league goals this season – he now wants the Golden Boot.
“Forging an incredible partnership with Rakish Bingham upfront, the deadly duo struck 10 goals between them in February. You get the feeling there’s even more to come!”
