Long-standing supporter and popular former turnstile operator at Stoonebridge Road, Gerry Parker, was laid to rest following a service at Gravesend Crematorium on Monday.
Born George Elmer Parker on 9th July, 1925, 94-year-old ‘Gerry’ – who died at the end of last month – was a smiling face who greeted home and away fans for many years at the Fleet.
As a junior he was on the books of Northfleet United before the Second World War and continued to support the newly merged club from 1946.
Finance manager Cheryl Wanless and former club chair Jessica McQueen were in attendance at Gerry’s service.
Had the privilege to know Jerry what a fantastic guy he was on a cold Wednesday night having a Bovril with him when there was 120 people in ground against purfleet FC in ryman league cup cos we played a league game the Tuesday
