Fruitless afternoon for Fleet as game called off

Ebbsfleet United’s Skrill South fixture at Tonbridge Angels was postponed just over an hour before kick-off after a late deluge – added to earlier overnight and morning rain – forced the referee’s hand. This was despite a bright spell in between that saw fans and players arrive at Longmead for the eagerly-awaited game.

No new date has been set but will be published here when the two clubs come to an arrangement.

The lack of action saw Fleet fall a place to seventh, overtaken by Hayes & Yeading who beat Whitehawk 4-1. Elsewhere, Basingstoke beat Maidenhead 1-0, Eastleigh kept the pressure on league leaders Bromley with a 1-0 win over Farnborough and Bath triumphed 2-0 at basement club Dorchester.

And in the Ryman League, Fleet midfielder Tom Phipp scored on his loan debut for Maidstone United, who drew 2-2 at home to Leiston.
