Fleet to play training game behind closed doors

Ebbsfleet United’s players won’t have all weekend to themselves following the postponement of Saturday’s trip to Gateshead.

Daryl McMahon has arranged a training game at home to Eastbourne Borough on Saturday morning at a mutually convenient time for both sides – but it will be played behind closed doors.

The short notice following the confirmation that Gateshead’s FA Trophy tie would go ahead this Saturday involved numerous staffing issues for the club in putting on a “formal” friendly at the Kuflink Stadium. That, alongside the timing of a morning kick-off being more convenient for both sets of players, meant the decision was made to organise it as a private training match instead with no admittance to fans or press.

Fleet are next in action on March 24th at the Kuflink Stadium when last season’s promotion rivals Maidenhead United are the visitors.
