Fleet return to the Saturday-Tuesday schedule this and next week, starting with a midweek trip to Eastbourne Borough.
Form guide
Since the departure of Tommy Widdrington in February, the Sports’ second manager of the campaign, Eastbourne have picked up two wins and two defeats. Their most recent outing was a 2-0 defeat at Salisbury which left them bottom of the table, three points from safety in a very tight relegation scrap. However, they have picked up impressive results with their last win at home being against Torquay United on the 21st February.
The Fleet got March started in the best possible way with an emphatic win against play-off rivals Torquay United and will seek back-to-back wins to cement that top-four place and put further pressure on leaders Dorking ahead of Saturday’s meeting between the clubs.

Last time out
The spoils were shared at the Kuflink Stadium in October (above) when Eastbourne – with Ryan Sandford in goal for them – visited. Kwesi Appiah and Finlay Barnes were on the scoresheet for the Fleet but the Sports equalised late in a 2-2 draw.
Our last visit to Priory Lane came at the beginning of the 2022/23 season in an incident-packed game where Ben Chapman went in goal and 10-man Fleet came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2, ending the game with nine men!

Who’s who
Kai Corbett is a 23-year-old midfielder who joined the Sports in October after a spell with Aldershot Town, where he scored a hat-trick in the FA Trophy Fourth Round and went on to appear in the club’s Wembley win. Born in Barcelona, Corbett came through Barcelona’s La Masia before spending seven years at West Ham United. He later played for Peterborough United, with a loan spell at Scunthorpe United, as well as time at Chelmsford City.
George Alexander joined from Chelmsford City in the summer of 2024 and quickly established himself as a natural goalscorer. A product of Millwall’s academy, he spent three years with Bromley before moving to Chelmsford in February 2024. Alexander finished as Borough’s top scorer last season, narrowly missing out on the National League South Golden Boot.
The manager
Steve King was announced as Eastbourne’s new permanent manager on Monday morning following the departure of Widdrington last month. King has managed fellow Kent sides Dartford and Welling United, as well as Whitehawk, Havant & Waterlooville and Farnborough.
