Fleet make Boulding move

Fleet’s latest Academy graduate is defender Ollie Boulding who signed his first club contract before the weekend game against Bath City.

Boulding made his first-team debut in last week’s Kent Senior Cup quarter-final in the right-back position and put in an eye-catching 90 minutes as a young Fleet back line also consisting of Joe Denny and Karn Miller-Neave, marshalled by Dean Pooley after Anthony Acheampong’s injury, kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

With Academy star Shilow Tracey currently grabbing the headlines after his US tour with the Tottenham Academy, Boulding is one of several teammates making noises on the cusp of the Fleet first-team squad.

Fleet boss Daryl McMahon was pleased with the performance of Boulding and his fellow Academy players in the Kent Senior Cup game but insisted theย contract was just reward for his efforts in the Academy setup and ever-maturing approach toย the game. “It was great for those young lads to play against grown men in a proper game,” McMahon said, “but they’re also really coming along well in the Academy setup and Ollie fully deserves this.”
