Fleet head off for Truro tempest

Ebbsfleet United will face a double obstacle this weekend as they seek to maintain a 12-point gap at the top of the league table.

Beating the weather is the first hurdle and beyond that is an in-form and difficult-to-beat Truro City side that last tasted defeat in the National League South in early December – and that was their only loss in the last 19 games!

Fleet will not lose Danny Kedwell to his one-match ban until next week so Daryl McMahon could name an unchanged side for the third game running – but may seek to change things around given the nature of a tough away fixture on a tricky surface.

Fleet will need to watch out for in-form attacker Isaac Vassell who is being tracked by League clubs. He scored his 11th goal of the season on Tuesday night and set up two others.

The wet weather in Cornwall this winter has seen several postponements at Truro’s Treyew Road, including last Saturday’s match at home to Dartford. But the White Tigers were able to get a game played in midweek at home to Hemel Hempstead and the Cornish club is working tirelessly on the playing surface in the lead-up to Saturday’s kick-off.

Admission price is £12 and £8 for concessions. The Truro club bar opens at 12.30 with fine Cornish real ales plus lagers and ciders – and there are two fast food vans inside the ground. There is also a marquee serving home cooked meals with Truro informing us that this Saturday’s menu is chicken & leek pie served with sauté potatoes and beans followed by fruits of the forest crumble. They offer this all for £20 per person which includes admission and programme.

If any travelling fans are interested, could they please let John Noble know as soon as possible and certainly by 3.00pm  Friday afternoon. He can be messaged via Twitter here.
