Look ahead: Weston-super-Mare (H)

It’s another Saturday back at home and this time the visitors are Weston-super-Mare for the lengthy journey to the Morrow Stadium, writes Libby O’Connell.

Form guide

A third consecutive win saw the Fleet remain unbeaten in the league in midweek. And what a victory Tuesday night was! A quiet first-half was quickly forgotten as the second period saw the Fleet slam home five goals in the final half-hour.

Just minutes after their introduction, substitutes Toby Edser and Kwesi Appiah paired up to make their mark and moments later, Daniel Ogunleye made it two. After Appiah sent a ball flying into the left corner of the net, it was again Ogunleye who touched home the third, the No.7 quickly becoming a new favourite of Fleet supporters.

Ronny Nelson added the fourth, firing home his first goal of the season, and just when fans thought that might be it for the night, Ben Chapman used the final moments of injury time to put the final nail in the coffin. Finishing the game with an impressive 5-0, the result lifted the Fleet into sixth place in the standings.

Just one place behind Josh Wright’s side in the rankings, separated by goal difference, sit Saturday’s opposition. Weston have enjoyed good overall form this season, recording five wins, three draws and three losses. However, with two league fixtures in a row without a win, the Seagulls will be looking for three points to restore their drive for the top positions.

Their most recent result was a 1-1 home draw at Folkestone Invicta, with the fixture prior seeing Weston sustain a 3-2 loss against Farnham Town. In between league games, the club also saw their FA Cup dreams fade, departing in the second qualifying round after a replay against Wimborne Town.

Last time out

This will be the two clubs’ 13th league meeting – and 15th in all. The two most recent face-offs, during the 2025/26 campaign, saw the Fleet end up with 3-1 and 1-0 defeats. The overall record sits at five wins for Ebbsfleet, seven for Weston, and two draws between the two. The highest-scoring win, however, belongs to the Fleet, who enjoyed a 6-0 victory in Somerset back in 2013.

Who’s who?

Former Fleet frontman Luke Coulson has been a Seagull since May 2024. As a regular starter for Weston, Coulson has had a successful stint and this season he has four goals to his name. He departed Stonebridge Road in December 2018 after 73 appearances in a Fleet shirt and 13 goals across his season and a half at the club. He went on to join Bromley, and then Dartford ahead of his arrival at Weston.

There’s a lot of goals in the visitors’ team and their star striker, Louis Britton, is another to keep an eye out for on Saturday. With seven goals across his 12 appearances so far this season, Britton has begun his second season with Weston strongly. His first season, having joined in March 2025, saw him collect the club’s Player of the Season and Goal of the Season awards. The 25-year-old has spent time at clubs such as Bristol City, where he went out on several loan spells, Maldon & Tiptree, and Bristol Manor Farm.

The manager

Scott Rogers was appointed in October 2025, having held both caretaker and assistant manager positions at the club since August 2023. Prior to this, he managed Southern League Division One South club Tiverton Town, the same team where he ended his playing career in 2021. His playing career also saw him at clubs such as Forest Green Rovers, Newport County, and Weston themselves.

Rogers had a very successful first season as manager, taking the club to their highest ever National League South finish of sixth place, where they then went on to reach the play-off semi-finals. The Seagulls also reached the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history, where they were ultimately defeated 3-2 by Fleet’s conquerors Grimsby Town.

Referee

Callum Fisk of the Birmingham FA is an experienced head at NLS level. He took charge of two Fleet games last season, the win at home to Dorking Wanderers and the defeat at Chesham United.
