Drury lands after Spitfires exit

Andy Drury has become the second player today to return to Stonebridge Road after Daryl McMahon secured the experienced Eastleigh midfielder this afternoon.

Drury, who won the Conference South with Lewes and the Conference Premier and FA Trophy with Stevenage, previously spent three years at the Fleet from 2003โ€“06, playing 118 games and scoring 19 goals.

He started out with Sittingbourne before coming to then Fleet manager Andy Fordโ€™s attention in 2003 but his star really began to soar while playing for Stevenage โ€“ where he lined up alongside Daryl McMahon โ€“ becoming a key part of the side that won promotion to the Football League.

In 2010, a move to Luton Town saw him score twice in an FA Cup match against Charlton Athletic and Paul Jewell signed him for Ipswich Town for ยฃ150,000 in 2011. He made his Ipswich debut in the Championship against a Hull City side containing Aaron McLean and in all played 64 times for the Tractor Boys at that level.

He then played for Crawley Town in League One before returning to Luton Town for ยฃ100,000 in 2014. His move to Eastleigh came about in the summer of 2015 and this season he has played 20 games for the Spitfires, scoring five goals including one in the FA Cup defeat of Swindon Town.

He goes straight into the squad for the Oxford City trip.

Daryl McMahon said, โ€œThis is a big signing for the club and Dr Abdulla has once again supported me in further strengthening what is already a good squad. He adds great experience and quality to complement our midfield options. Andy knows the club well from his previous time here and I know he will settle in quickly.โ€
