Club suffers loss of long-term supporter

Ebbsfleet United have learned of the death of long-standing supporter Ronald French, 93.

Ronald passed away last Friday and his support stretches back to before our formation as Gravesend & Northfleet. A fan of Gravesend United before the Second World War, Ronald maintained his allegiance when the Shrimpers merged with Northfleet United in 1946 and continued to shout for his local club after the name-change to Ebbsfleet United in 2007.

His son John told us, “He spent many a good Saturday watching the Fleet right up until a friendly in August 2015 (since then he was not well enough ) which was his birthday and for the past five seasons on or around his birthday, the announcer at Stonebridge Road always gave my dad his best wishes before the game .”

The club wish to extend their sympathies to all the French family at this time.
