The Club announced today that striker Billy Bricknell has been disciplined for comments made on Twitter last night concerning Dover manager Chris Kinnear.
Vice Chairman Peter Varney said, “Whilst I understand the emotion that follows a match and the extent of the significant abuse against Billy on Twitter last night we cannot allow derogatory comments about an opposing manager to be made by a player on a public forum. We have a standard code of discipline at this Club and will not allow that standard to be lowered and Billy has been dealt with internally.
“We have had a positive conversation and he understands the need for action to be taken by the Club. I do believe that the comments made by Chris Kinnear before the match which amounted to fabricated lies about our club wage structure should be dealt with by Dover to show that they too operate to acceptable standards of conduct.
“Such lies lead to players questioning what one another are earning, they become accepted by other players we may wish to sign for us and most importantly they can lead to the unwarranted abuse on the terraces and on Twitter we have seen in the last 24 hours.”
