Achuba makes it two for the Academy

A second Academy player has made the step up to the first-team squad with defender Mathew Achuba signing and being handed the No.16 shirt ahead of the weekend kick-off.

Achuba made his senior league debut at Bromley at the end of last season, playing 23 minutes when he replaced Arif Omar at Hayes Lane. He also figured in the Kent Senior Cup in 2018/19 for the Fleet. This summer he has featured against K Sports, Dartford and Brighton & Hove Albion.

A former U18 player with Hayes & Yeading United, Achuba is a centre-back but can also operate on the right of defence.

Many congratulations to Mathew on his step up to first-team duty.

Fleet’s Academy is looking to capitalise on the success of Zach Dainkeh and Achuba this coming season and still has places for a few remaining players. For details of how to register interest, see here.
