Ebbsfleet United have issued the following statement following the conviction of Patrick Ada at Woolwich Crown Court yesterday.

The offence occurred in February 2012 whilst he was playing for another football club. He came to us pre-season and was signed on a fixed-term agreement pending his court appearance.

In reaching our decision to offer him a contract we took the view that any individual is innocent until proven guilty. It was on that basis that the contract was offered and agreed. In terms with this agreement his contract has now been terminated.

Ebbsfleet United will be making no further statements.
