Match rewind: Farnborough

It was the culminaton of ‘bounceback season’.

Relegated in, shall we say, not altogether favourable circumstances the season before following Chester’s collapse, threadbare Fleet regrouped in the summer of 2010 with an influx of new players.

This squad took a little time to gel but having finished third behind Braintree Town and Farnborough, Liam Daish’s side were purring come the club’s first-ever play-off campaign.

Chelmsford City were swept aside in the play-offs and Farnborough obliterated for 80 minutes of the 90 in the final on their own ground, until a late fightback had Fleet fans living on their last remaining nerves heading towards the final whistle.

With thanks to Richard Anson for providing the DVD for this coverage, from 3pm this afternoon (Saturday), we’ll be playing the full 90 minutes from this memorable final – Michael West’s overhead goal, his sublime half-volley for Ricky Shakes’ fantastic finish, his header for 3-0 plus Calum Willock’s last-minute nerves-buster… they’re all here.

Watch out also for highlights from the two legs of the Chelmsford semi-final, courtesy of Graham Sidwell.
