Albie or not to be? Midfielder extends loan

Instant hit Albie Morgan has extended his loan at the Fleet until the New Year.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who has played four times for the club since joining on loan from Charlton Athletic, signed a loan extension to keep him at the Kuflink Stadium until January 4th.

Morgan, who scored an excellent goal at Chorley and was only denied the credit for a free-kick goal at Sutton because the goalkeeper got the last touch, will be eligible to play in the Buildbase FA Trophy for the Fleet, although he remains unavailable for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie.

Having been persuaded by Fleet boss Kevin Watson to help the club’s fight against relegation, Morgan has enjoyed being part of the squad.

With his good form and extended run in the team, another two months of National League experience is preferred to the option of returning to U23 football and the Fleet manager is delighted to have kept the player into 2020.

Watson told BBC Radio Kent, “He’s been a real breath of fresh air, a great footballer, the type of player that I was and the type I’d like in my team. He should be playing at a lot higher level but let’s not shout this from the rooftops because I’m really pleased he’s going to be here till January. He’s come in, he’s really enjoying it and you can see that in the way he’s playing. We’ve got him for another two months which is great news.”
