Parkes pitches up at Stonebridge Road

The Fleet have continued to bolster their midfield after agreeing terms and an undisclosed fee with Hemel Hempstead Town for club captain Jordan Parkes.

The 25-year-old has just completed his most successful season in non-league football, having scored 20 league goals from midfield for the Tudors, including the superb equalising free-kick at Stonebridge Road back in February.

Parkes began life at Watford, making his league debut in 2008, while also earning international honours with England U18s, U19s and playing for the U20 side in the 2009 World Cup. He played for Brentford, Farnborough and Barnet on loan, joining the latter on a permanent basis in 2010, operating mainly in the full-back position.

After 51 appearances for the Bees, he was briefly at Chelmsford before signing for his hometown club Hemel Hempstead in 2012. In three seasons with the Tudors, Parkes helped the club to promotion from the Southern League, scooped all three player-of-the-year awards for 2014/15 and was made club captain, signing a contract extension last year. He signed off his Tudors career with a typically outstanding free-kick to win the Hertfordshire Senior Cup earlier this month.

“I am really excited about the fresh challenge at Ebbsfleet and their aspirations to win the league,” he said. “I’ve had a brilliant three years captaining my hometown club Hemel Hempstead. Getting promotion and reaching the First Round of the FA Cup have been highlights that I will never forget.”
