Former Dover striker Ben May has become manager Steve Brown’s second new signing for the 2013/14 season.
May, 29, is a Gravesend-born player with plenty of Football League experience since progressing from school in Dartford alongside good friend and England international Glen Johnson, and then through Millwall’s youth ranks.
He played 90 times for the Lions in a seven-year career between 2001 and 2008, scoring 14 goals. He also enjoyed loan spells with Brentford, Colchester and Scunthorpe, signing permanently for the latter in 2008 while they were in the Championship.
Joining League Two side Stevenage in 2010, his time there was disrupted by injury and a loan period at Barnet followed. Ben moved to Dover in 2012 and was promptly among the goals, firing the Crabble side to the play-off final with 19 league goals.
The new Fleet striker told EUFC.co.uk, “It’s all exciting stuff; Steve Brown showed an interest in signing me as soon as he knew he would be manager of Ebbsfleet. I’m currently enjoying a nice little break from football but I’m itching to lace my boots up and get back on the pitch. I look forward to my future with Ebbsfleet United Football Club”.
