After every match, EUFC.co.uk hosts a man of the match vote. Prior to the announcement of the official club player-of-the-year awards and the supporter-voted award, we totted up who has amassed the most votes by Fleet fans online over the course of the entire season.
Taking in every league, FA Cup and FA Trophy match, Fleet fans awarded Paul Lorraine the most votes in total, the defender amassing 305 to beat Michael West’s total by just nine.
That, however, is probably not the most scientific conclusion as players who had been outstanding in one match would receive a greater proportion of votes than they would in a match where the votes are more spread. Moreover, home matches naturally draw more votes than away matches, also skewing the result somewhat, while Lorraine being ever-present would also give him an advantage over players who were out injured, such as Michael West.
Therefore, for a more accurate picture, we can also look at which player received the most man-of-the-match votes throughout the season; in this case Ashley Carew and Michael West are tied on eight each, with Paul Lorraine just behind on seven, with the Woking match still to come.
