Walk this way…

After the success of the first EUFC Walking Football tournament held back in October, we are delighted to be able to confirm that Steve Gritt and Kenny Clark will be holding trials for what will be the formal EUFC Over 50s Walking Football Squad to compete in the Kent Walking Football League in the 2017/18 season.

The trials will take place on the evening of Wednesday, 11th January at Stonebridge Road starting at 18.30 – so plan to arrive at the club to change at 18.00 to be put through your paces by the “Gritler”.

Fleet director Stuart Butler-Gallie and Kenny have been in discussions with the Fleet Trust Board for the Trust to take over organisation of the Over 50s Walking Football Squad with the aim of regular training (hopefully at Stonebridge Road, subject to weather and condition of the pitch) to get ready to play in the Kent League next season. Subject to take-up at the trials and the continuing momentum of this initiative, the club will be donating a playing strip for a team of Fleet fans to fulfil their dream of pulling on the red shirt and representing their much-loved club.

Kenny is trying to finalise friendlies for the chosen squad in late February/early March against the Kings Hill Strollers, who play at the club’s Training Ground at Kings Hill, West Malling – and also against either Canterbury WFC or the Medway Marauders WFC based at Strood.

So if you feel you need to “walk-off” the mince pies, turkey and stuffing and you want to play for your club, please Kenny Clark via email at [email protected] or register your interest by phone on 01474 533796.
