Volunteer award comes to the Fleet

The Vanarama National League South Volunteer of the Month award for December has gone to the Fleet’s very own Steve East.

Steve, who has been a Fleet supporter for 55 years and latterly a member of the club’s walking football squad, has helped and volunteered in various roles at the club for a number of years, most recently as a valued member of the ‘divot squad’ pitch maintenance team. He has always maintained high standards in his work for the Fleet, whatever the assignment!

He added to the pitch-maintenance undertaking this season by also stepping into the matchday announcer role and has had no hesitation to helping out with any task at the club, his enthusiasm and willingness to step up always a huge boon to the staff and fellow volunteers here at the Kuflink Stadium.

This is the third volunteer award for the Fleet in recent times, with John Snow and Percy Scudder having also been honoured. Steve joins those in receiving his Vanarama National League trophy – and he is part of a much wider core of volunteers who give of their time in helping to ensure matchday operations and close-season maintenance and upkeep are always carried out for the benefit of all our supporters.
