Versatile Rowan is most recent recruit

The Fleet have added one more signing before the commencement of the 2020/21 season on Saturday with the capture of 22-year-old defender Charlie Rowan.

The trialist has impressed Dennis Kutrieb and his staff since arriving at the club and making his first pre-season showing at Barnet. He followed that up with appearances against Dover Athletic and Luton Town, against whom he scored an impressive solo effort, making a tackle on the halfway line and exchanging passes with Iffy Allen before stroking the ball home for the fourth Fleet goal of the night (see below).

Charlie also played the entire second half as Fleet secured a clean sheet and win at Weymouth.

Standing at 6ft 1in, the London-born player can operate as either a central defender or full back and came through the Watford and QPR academies.

He spent time last season on loan at Barnet and was on their bench when they played the Fleet at the Kuflink Stadium last September, having also been at Accrington Stanley on loan when they were promoted to League One.

Charlie began his career with Watford as an U15 and progressed to captain their U18 side, winning a youth league title in 2015/16. He moved to QPR in November 2018, going straight into the club’s U23s and was rewarded with a contract extension at Loftus Road in summer 2019.
