U13s take runners-up spot in Dutch tournament

Ebbsfleet United’s U13s chalked up a huge achievement in making the final of the Dutch Soccer Youth Cup following a weekend tournament in the Netherlands.

The Fleet lads were edged out by just a solitary goal in the final by fellow English club PSA but with a small squad and having had to play five 25-minutes games in intense heat, there was certainly no lack of effort from the Ebbsfleet youngsters.

And reaching the final at Rotterdam’s Sportpark De Venhoeve wasn’t the only achievement. The Fleet side conceded only three goals all tournament, scoring 28, and they topped both their pool groups with six wins from six over Dutch opposition.

The Dutch Soccer Youth Cup, now in its fifth year, has hosted sides from numerous countries including Belgium, Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, China and Holland.
