Ebbsfleet United regret to announce the death of club president Trevor Bonneywell after a long illness.
Trevor, 81, (pictured here on the right celebrating the Fleet’s 1977-78 Southern League Cup victory) served the Fleet with distinction as a director for many years, primarily under the chairmanship of Roger Easterby and later on the board of Lionel Ball. During his long career with the Fleet he was honoured by both the Football Association and the KCFA.
?Trevor was a very familiar face around Stonebridge Road? said Fleet chairman Phil Sonsara. ?Even when he was battling illness he was still to be seen at the ground welcoming visitors and keeping abreast of developments at the club. When Trevor could no longer attend games he used to follow the Fleet with online commentaries and was as enthusiastic as ever.?
?Trevor?s knowledge of the non-league scene was encyclopaedic? said Fleet secretary Peter Danzey. ?He seemed to know players at all levels and his contacts in the game will be saddened to hear of his passing.?
?The club will be remembering Trevor by wearing black armbands in the game at Eastleigh tomorrow and we will be holding a minute?s silence before the Good Friday home game with Chelmsford.?
The club extends its sympathies to Trevor?s widow Sandra and to his family.
