Stevenage Boro 3-0 Fleet

It’s woe at Stevenage for the Fleet yet again…

Never a happy hunting ground for the Fleet at the best of times, Liam Daish’s side came away without a point at Broadhall Way yet again.

Chris Beardsley opened the scoring in the 8th minute as a confident Stevenage had their visitors on the back foot from the off. Mark Roberts hit the woodwork on 39 minutes though it took the home side until 15 minutes from the end to increase their lead, Joel Byrom turning Michael Bostwick’s assist past Lance Cronin.

Defender Lawrie Wilson capped a very strong performance on 86 minutes, knocking the ball beyond the Fleet defence from Ronnie Henry’s pass and finishing with aplomb.

The Fleet handed debuts to Stefan Bailey, signed today, and also striker Scott Ginty, a 78th minute substitute, in a side which showed three changes from Saturday but the result will do little to answer questions Liam Daish may have as he prepares to visit Mansfield this coming weekend.

More to follow.

TEAM: Cronin, Salmon, Collins, Crooks, Charles, Heeroo, Bailey (Shulton 58), West, Shakes, Forshaw (Ginty 78), Vieira. Subs not used: Lamprell, Pooley, Wills.
Att: 1,704
