Playing this season back in the National League South has meant there is no league requirement for us to segregate our fixtures unless the recommendation is to do so by police and/or our safety advisory group. We currently take these recommendations very seriously on a game-by-game basis – visiting fans of clubs at this level tend to be smaller in number in most cases, hence why so far we have not segregated this season and why Fleet fans (for the most part) also enjoy unsegregated matches on their travels.
However, we have had feedback from a small number of our own supporters that their preference is for segregation because some visiting fans can congregate in numbers in the Plough End when their side is attacking that goal and the feeling is that this can sometimes be antagonistic or uncomfortable for our own supporters in those seats.
So please, do let us know your views by emailing us on [email protected] and also take part in the poll below to gauge the preferences on this topic.
We would add, however, that whatever the results of your feedback, ultimately police and safety rulings will always carry priority when the decision to segregate does have to be made. That said, at all other times, we are of course open to the opinions of our supporters on the matter and will explore all options for hard, soft or no segregation where it is within our control to do so safely.
(For your information, our safety group has not identified this Saturday’s home game against Hornchurch as requiring of hard segregation. We will instead be implementing ‘soft’ segregation which allows for free movement around the stadium and use of all bar and food facilities by both home and away supporters. However, the Plough End will be restricted to home fans only.)
