*ALL PROCEEDS TO DANNY KEDWELL’S FLEET YOUTH ACADEMY*
The Kuflink Stadium is hosting two screenings on 20th September of a film co-written, produced and directed by Fleet’s well-known actor/director Karl Howman and his long-term associate Ethem Cetintas.
Karl, who can be seen and heard at most of Fleet’s matches home and away was invited to the Kuflink Stadium after the screening of Secret Spitfires at the Showcase Cinema Bluewater and other selected Showcase and Odeon Cinemas up and down the country on 31st July this year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the RAF. And to benefit Fleet’s Youth Academy, Karl has offered us these two screenings before the film gets a video and TV release.
Four years in the making from research to screen, it documents the remarkable story of the workers who used sheds, workshops, garages, bus depots and hotels in Salisbury to build Spitfire parts in great secrecy to prevent their destruction by the Luftwaffe.
We will be hosting two events here in the Kuflink Stadium’s Sponsors Lounge on Thursday, 20th September at different times, enabling Fleet supporters and the public, their families, friends and more, to enjoy the film and speak to Karl about his experiences in making it. Tickets are just £10 per person and include either a cream tea or pie and mash depending on your chosen screening time. All proceeds will go to Danny Kedwell to directly benefit the Fleet youth academy.
Kedwell, who will be attending the 3.00pm showing on behalf of the youth academy, thanked Karl Howman, telling eufc.co.uk: “It’s great that Karl’s bringing the film to the Fleet and even more thoughtful that it’s in aid of our youth teams. Any help as we get the academy off the ground again this season is really useful for me, Nathan [Bullas] and the boys who’ll be playing for the club, so it’s brilliant of Karl to give his time and the proceeds from the day in this way. I look forward to seeing as many fans as possible who can come along in the afternoon.”
The first showing will take place at 3.00pm, together with a cream tea and a Q&A with Karl Howman immediately following the screening. Danny Kedwell will also be attending this showing.
The later, second showing will be at 7.00pm with pie and mash served and, again, Karl will be available for a Q&A session on the film’s conclusion.
Karl told eufc.co.uk, “This an amazing story and an inspirational film and I’m delighted the Kuflink Stadium and Ebbsfleet United are hosting the screenings. It’s a pleasure to bring the film here and I hope as many supporters and locals can come along to either of the showings where I’ll be on hand to chat about the production and story behind it.”
