Samuel seals the deal

Ebbsfleet United are pleased to announce the signing of former Gillingham centre-forward Dominic Samuel.

After breaking through the Reading academy, Dominic made his professional debut for the Royals in December 2012. The 29-year-old then stayed at the club for a further five years but enjoyed a number of loan spells including a successful season at Gillingham, scoring seven goals in 25 appearances.

Following his departure from Reading in 2017, Dominic made the move up north to Blackburn Rovers where he spent three seasons, appearing 53 times in League One and then the Championship after helping Rovers to promotion. In 2020, the 6ft 2in striker then made the move back to Gillingham for a further season, before putting pen to paper with Scottish Premiership club, Ross County.

Having spent two years in Scotland, Dominic has now moved back south where he will play in front of the Fleet supporters in the National League.

“I’m explosive and a goal threat,” he told the club website. “I would say I’ve settled down well, even on the first day. I know quite a few of the boys, having played against and with them. As a striker, I want to score as many goals as I can and in football you need to be confident.

“Playing at home, in front of the fans is always exciting. Looking at the stadium and I’ve seen the numbers that come down, it has definitely made me excited.”

Dominic will wear the number 31 shirt and is available for tomorrow’s match subject to FA approval.
