Punjab clash ushers in the return of football!

Football returns for Fleet fans following a near-three-month layoff over the close season and as is now traditional, it’s the short trip to Punjab United as the annual opener for the summer friendlies programme.

The first time the two sides faced each other was back in 2020 with the Fleet romping to an 8-2 victory at the Kuflink Stadium. Since then, the matches have been played at Punjab’s Steve Cook Stadium in Gravesend.

These friendlies have seen the Fleet secure three more wins between 2021 and 2023 against the current Southern Counties East League Premier Division side. Last year’s game was an unusual morning kick-off and ended with the Fleet winning 6-0.

The game, for which the winning club takes home the Steve Cook Memorial Cup, will allow Fleet fans to take a first look at their new additions along with familiar faces from our retained list.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate tomorrow with cash and card accepted, costing £5 for adults with U16s gaining free entry. Kick-off is at 7.45pm and Indian Street Food is available from the home club’s Bollywood Box!
