EBBSFLEET UNITED FC  run annual tournaments for schools ‘THE FLEET CUP’
A series of exciting schools tournaments for young players based on fairplay and enjoyment

The Fleet Cup 2013 – Mixed Primary School Tournament  for yrs 4,5& 6  was held, Tuesday 26 March 2013 @ Leigh Academy Technology College in partnership with Dartford School Sport Network.

15 primary school teams competed on the day to compete for The Fleet Cup 2013 and to be crowned 2013 champions.

The tournaments was based on Fairplay and are about teaching children to play as a team and learning that everyone involved needs to enjoy healthy sporting competition. The teams are mixed to encourage girls and boys to get involved in sport, and are from upper primary school ages.

After a full round of competition where all schools played at least 6 games in group stages, Bean A met Oakfield primary and Bean B played The Gateway in semi final matches. The matches were very keenly contested and produce some exciting moments for all the spectators, leading to both the Bean teams progressing to the Final.

Although from the same school the Final was also very competitive and very exciting for the school crowd cheering the players on as the goals went in at either end, with seconds to go Bean B pulled ahead and won the tournament by a single goal.

We would like to thank support volunteers on the day from the EUFC girls section, Dartford school Sport Network, Leigh Academy PE Department and the young leaders from Leigh Academy who refereed throughout the day and to the teachers and school teams taking part well done on a great day of football, even if -5 at times brrrr.
