Preview: Maidenhead United

The final Tuesday night fixture of the regular campaign sees the Fleet travel to Maidenhead United to finally complete a game that has been postponed on three occasions already.

Both sides are on equal points in the National League South table and inside the play-off places, with Maidenhead edging ahead on goal difference. The Magpies have won three of their last five matches including a 1-0 victory away at Eastbourne on Saturday.

Last time out
It was only the end of January when the teams last met, which ended in a commanding 3-0 victory for the Fleet. All three goals came in the second-half and it was Ronny Nelson, Dominic Samuel and Kwesi Appiah on the scoresheet.

Who’s who
Josh Popoola joined Maidenhead after impressing during a trial in the summer of 2025. The versatile youngster came through the youth systems at Watford and Bournemouth before moving into senior football with spells at Hitchin Town and Cheshunt. He later joined Stockport County’s academy and gained further experience on loan at Spennymoor Town, Chorley and Warrington, making 16 appearances. After a short spell at Tonbridge Angels, he enjoyed a productive 2024/25 season at Buxton, making 37 appearances with four goals and eight assists.

Liam Dulson joined Maidenhead from Cheltenham Town ahead of this season. After beginning his youth career in academies across London, he spent eight years at Watford before moving to Waltham Abbey at 16. He later gained senior experience with Hoddesdon Town and Royston Town before enjoying a prolific spell at Ware, scoring 53 goals in 87 appearances. He also featured for Potters Bar Town and Bedford Town, netting seven goals in 18 games for the latter. His impressive form earned him a move to League Two side Cheltenham Town in 2024, where he marked his debut with a goal.
