It’s a new era at Ebbsfleet United following Danny Searle’s permanent appointment and back-to-back draws against Oldham and Chesterfield take the club into three games in a week. Eastleigh and Woking travel to the Kuflink Stadium with Dorking Wanderers waiting after that on the road – and the opportunity to achieve successive wins is crucial to climbing the table.
Form Guide
A promising sight for Fleet fans is a glance at Eastleigh’s recent form. The Spitfires have failed to pick up a win in 2024 and their last one came against Dorking just before Christmas. Sitting 15th, the Spitfires have had six defeats in their last 10 matches in all competitions as they continue to struggle with form despite their positive start to the campaign.
Last time out
Our trip to the Silverlake Stadium in October on a Tuesday night saw Eastleigh hit five including a Paul McCallum hat-trick. Darren McQueen put us ahead and found himself on the scoresheet again but with Billy Clifford’s late red card and a clinical Eastleigh performance, the points stayed in Hampshire.
Eastleigh have been to Stonebridge Road six times, with three defeats and three draws to their name.
New faces at the Silverlake Stadium
The Spitfires have tried to stop the poor form with some new faces – first through the door was Ben Reeves, an experienced midfielder who has played for the likes of Charlton, had two separate spells at MK Dons and most recently, Gillingham. Next through the door was Ben Greenwood, who joined on loan from AFC Bournemouth. The 21-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Cherries in June 2021. On loan from Dagenham & Redbridge is 29-year-old defender David Longe-King. With a rise in non-league football, Longe-King earned a contract with Newport County and Grimsby Town before moving back into the National League with Woking on loan.
Club connections
Ouss Cissé will come face to face with former teammates having signed for the Fleet from the Spitfires in the summer.
The manager
Richard Hill was appointed as manager following an interim spell in caretaker charge in 2023, replacing Lee Bradbury. This is Hill’s third spell as Eastleigh boss, having led the Spitfires to the Conference South title in 2013/14.
