Preview: Crawley Town

The National League season is right around the corner and the Fleet take on Crawley Town for the final pre-season fixture of the summer.

The Red Devils last visited the Kuflink Stadium in 2009, which was a goalless affair. Nine months prior, the two sides met in an eight-goal thriller with the points shared – and the two clubs have faced off on 60 occasions in all in the Southern League, Conference and cup competitions.

In midweek, Crawley travelled to Aldershot Town and secured a 2-1 victory, having lost previously at Wealdstone in their pre-season campaign.

Promotion-winning Crawley boss Scott Lindsey is a familiar face to Fleet fans having skippered the side over almost two seasons from 1999 to 2001. He has faced a busy summer despite promotion with many of last season’s side winning moves to other clubs and Crawley have had to recruit heavily over the past few months. Signings include former Maidstone, Havant and Enfield Town striker Mo Faal.
