The second leg of our double header against Bromley is incoming as we travel to Hayes Lane for what was the New Year clash of the two sides, brought forward to a regular matchday slot this Saturday.
Just three days ago, the Fleet hosted Bromley for the Boxing Day affair with the visitors the last side in the division we had yet to play against.
Michael Cheek kicked things off with the opener inside the first 10 minutes before the second-half produced more of a traditional derby show for the 1,988 in attendance – the largest home gate against Bromley since 1959.
The Fleet’s lively start in that second half is what Dennis Kutrieb has targeted from the start at Hayes Lane and with Dominic Poleon in sharpshooting mood after his brace and now chasing his 70th club goal, Bromley’s defence will need to be wary of that threat. The hosts will be looking not only to Cheek but to in-form Olufela Olomola to continue his scoring streak.
Bromley will be without Jude Arthurs once more who is suspended and new signing from Maidstone, Levi Amantchi, is likely to still be injured. How much either side will change their lineups from Boxing Day will be the main talking point as is usually the case in festive matches where both games are so close together and teams can either stick or twist their tactics and formations.
Fleet’s last visit to Hayes Lane was a penalties victory in the Kent Senior Cup in 2022 but in the league you have to go back to the start of the 2019/20 season. Matt Godden’s spectacular winner in 2015 was the last three-pointer for the Fleet at Bromley (below).
