Dean Pooley is likely to remain sidelined for the rest of the season after his injury at Crawley Town on Saturday.
Although the 23-year-old defender was released from hospital at 8pm on Saturday with initial tests revealing no fracture to his leg, he will need to undergo an MRI scan on Wednesday to find out the full extent of his injury and will be lucky to play again before summer.
Liam Daish’s other major injury concern, Clint Easton, is getting a mask fitted to protect his fractured eye socket but he also will be sidelined throughout March and April.
This leaves Daish short on defensive options and the Fleet boss is looking to add some emergency cover this week, though for budget reasons this will need him to acquire outgoing loans for some existing players. On the need for more bodies, Fleet chairman Duncan Holt commented, “If we lose one more defender, players will be playing out of position and we may struggle to fill the bench.”
