Pooley pins his hopes on awesome foursome for charity

Fleet’s budding golf professionals swung into action to help raise money for charity this week.

The Fleet entered a strong fourball in the FFT Golf Day on 7th October. Organised by the Fleet’s shorts sponsors, the day was in aid of the Effinity Charitable Foundation (which aims to broaden the horizons of disadvantaged young people through providing opportunities for self-improvement).

Dean Pooley was captain and he, along with Matt Fish, Matt Godden and Michael West, represented the club (pictured above). The team performed well but didn’t particularly trouble the trophy presentations – save for the star of the team as Pooley won the nearest-the-pin competition.

The former Fleet defender told FleetOnline, “I had some difficult decisions to make to get down to my chosen four. I had to leave out Tom Bonner (too inexperienced for a major event), Charlie Sheringham (handicap dispute), Adam Cunnington (no bus service available from Cambridge), Lloyd Harrington (retribution for the lack of invite to his recent secret birthday party) and Jordan Parkes (who was unable to cancel a vital hair appointment).

“I sympathise now with the difficult choices Macca has to make each week.”
