Ebbsfleet United supporter and tireless volunteer Percy Scudder has been named the Vanarama Volunteer of the Month for May in the National League South.
Percy, a sprightly 83, bags the richly deserved award for all the hours he puts in behind the scenes for the club he has has loved and cherished since he first came to Stonebridge Road as a nine-year-old in the first season of our existence.
A former decorator, Percy has rejuvenated many areas around the club in a sea of bright red and white – particularly in those places around the old Main Stand that require annual upkeep and supporters will be able to see the benefits Percy’s hard work has provided when they return to football this July.
Percy was warmly welcomed as he popped into the club this week to pick up the Vanarama trophy. He continues to answer the call for ground-maintenance and this past couple of months, as lockdown restrictions have allowed, he has diligently turned up at the ground, paintbrush, roller tray, step ladder and overalls in hand.
We’re sure Fleet fans will join us in congratulating Percy who becomes the club’s second winner of the award this season, following John Snow’s recognition back in December, a testament to the hard work and loyalty shown by all of our volunteers this season.
We still have volunteer workdays on three weekends this month so if you would like to help on any of the days or weekends mentioned here, please do get in touch by emailing [email protected]
