Football might still be on hold for the majority of non-league clubs and grassroots outfits but the Fleet’s Over 50s walking footballers are oiling the gears for a return to friendly action as soon as the authorities give the green-light.
Our boys have returned to training at Gravesend’s Woodlands Park on Thursday nights (6.30pm-7.30pm) with socially-distanced keep-fit sessions the order of the day for the first few meetups.
Fleet’s Walking Football co-ordinator Chris Judge told the EUFC website, “Our usual venue at Goals Dartford is still not open so we’ve decided to start doing some basic training sessions as we not only miss attending the Kuflink Stadium but also kicking a ball.
“The Over 50s Kent League has now been cancelled for 2020, so we assume we will be playing friendly games much later in the year when easing of the Covid crisis gathers pace.”
