Moore credited with first goal of the season

LUKE MOORE RECEIVES OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION THAT HE SCORED SATURDAY’S OPENING GOAL…

Fleet striker Luke Moore has been officially credited with the opening goal of Saturday’s game against Mansfield Town ? the first Fleet goal of the season, a feat he also managed in 2007-08.

The strike was initially given to debutant Michael Gash but Moore claimed the goal immediately as the players celebrated and the 20-year-old reiterated his position in a post-match interview (see below). Video evidence also supported Moore’s claims that he followed up Gash’s shot to force the ball over the line as Mansfield goalkeeper Paddy Gamble was attempting to recover it as it bounced back off the post.

According to Moore, new boy Gash has been magnanimous in accepting the decision and indeed immediately conceded that it was not his goal.
