Todd Kane becomes the second new addition since Harry Watling’s arrival as the Fleet today announce the signing of the experienced defender.
The 31-year-old right-back has more than 180 Championship appearances under his belt and he arrives at the Kuflink Stadium after taking part in Stockport County’s League Two promotion success last season.
Fleet’s new addition spent 18 years at Stamford Bridge, rising through the Chelsea academy ranks from a schoolboy to earning a professional contract. Along the way he won the FA Youth Cup, earned England youth caps and was part of the squad that travelled to the Blues’ successful 2012 Champions League Final.
While part of Chelsea’s reserve and Premier League 2 side, Kane experienced senior football on loan at various high-level clubs including Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, Oxford United and Hull City. He also played in the Netherlands top tier, with NEC Nijmegen and Groningen.
In search of first-team football, the defender signed on a permanent basis with QPR in 2019 where he spent two years in the Championship and then secured a further two with Coventry City. He has since had spells with Charlton Athletic and at Stockport last season.
