Jack Wakely retires from football

After careful consideration and medical consultation, Jack Wakely has made the difficult decision to retire from professional football at the age of 24.

Throughout his career, Jack has been a dedicated athlete, and a respected teammate. While this decision marks the end of his playing career, Jack will always be a valued member of Ebbsfleet United following his arrival at the Kuflink Stadium in summer 2023.

Jack Wakely spoke to FleetTV to announce his retirement with the full interview available below.

“It’s been a tough couple of seasons here through injuries, from the big injury away at Barnet last season.

“I worked really hard, working diligently with the medical team but felt like I was at a standstill, so recently I went and saw a sports specialist in London who unfortunately has advised me to consider retiring from football.

“It’s been a tough pill to swallow and I have taken some time to process what he said. Given the reoccurring injuries I was having, I was aware of the fact it may be the case. I’m now looking forward to what might be next for me.”

We extend our deepest gratitude for Jack’s contributions and wish him every success in the next chapter of his journey.
