With the club working on the site to prepare the demolition of the Liam Daish Stand, work is also well under way on the Stonebridge Road pitch.
Head groundsman Craig Freeman is overseeing the complete renovation of the pitch with the top layer ploughed and topsoil already removed earlier this week so that a new pitch can be relaid. A fully automated pop-up irrigation system is also being installed.
The pitch work will also see the playing surface shifted slightly further north towards the existing main stand as part of the necessary works for construction of the new £5m Main Stand. The steelwork for the new stand structure is being brought to the site this week, with further clearance going on around the Liam Daish Stand in preparation for its eventual demolition this month.
