Ebbsfleet United are delighted to have been granted full planning permission for the redevelopment of the Stonebridge Road stand and outline planning approval for the other three sides of the ground following tonight’s meeting at Gravesham Borough Council.
The council committee were unanimous in their decision to grant approval with no abstentions and no votes against. Some minor conditions remain and these will be attended to in various planned meetings.
Now the work can begin on what will be our new Main Stand and tenders from selected contractors are due back to the club by April 21st. Following discussions with the selected builder(s), work is likely to begin some time towards the end of May.
The club should also have concluded the purchase of Stonebridge Road within the next seven days.
Fleet vice chairman Peter Varney told FleetOnline, “This is a major step in the future progression of this football club. I’d like to thank in particular the design team who have been fantastic and also note the help and support of the council members in the vote tonight. Also credit to Peter Price and his planning team who have worked tirelessly on the details to enable us to get to this point.”
The stadium proposal was fifth on the Council’s agenda tonight but the chairman decided to bring it forward to the beginning due to the number of Fleet fans packing the public gallery.
“It’s another example of how enthusiastic the supporters are,” said Peter Varney. “They’ve been behind us home and away and off the field too!”
